Johnny Ramos – Three Percenter Cop on Campus

Johnny Ramos (identity verifiable here) is an armed Safe School Officer at Cypress Bay High School. Until 1 or 2 days after the Capitol Event, Ramos had a patch on his chest that displayed a symbol of the far-right Three Percenter Militia, and a Thin Blue Line American flag on his back. Following the Capitol Riot, Ramos changed his patches, removing his Three Percenter patch and replacing it with that of the Thin Blue Line, removed from his back. In place of the Thin Blue Line patch, a Gadsden flag was patched on.

Weston Underground finds it unlikely that Ramos’ beliefs actually changed following the insurrection at the Capitol, but rather took a cue to further mask his far-right beliefs in order to keep his position of domination and authority over the thousands of students present at Cypress Bay.

Three Percenter/III% Militia Movement

The Three Percenter group is a part of the militia movement that has surged in the United States since the year 2008, whose name derives from the incorrect belief that only 3% of American colonists rose up against the United Kingdom during the War of Independence. On its website, the Three Percenter group insists it’s not a militia, nor is its aim to overthrow the government. Instead, the goal is, “to utilize the fail-safes put in place by our founders to reign in an overreaching government and push back against tyranny.”

The Three Percenter militia first entered mainstream discourse during its presence at the events of Charlottesville, stating that their members were present in order to maintain the peace and mediate conflict between the far-right and left-wing counterprotesters.

Many believe that their presence escalated tensions between the fascist and left-wing sides, which culminated in the murder of counterprotester Heather Heyer via being run over by a car.

The militia’s presence was noted by many during the George Floyd Uprising in late May and early June, under a similarly organized umbrella movement called the Oath Keepers, who had a noted presence at many Black Lives Matter protests dating all the way back to the Ferguson riots.
